On Friday night me & a couple of pals decided to head to the Stalybridge Beer Festival, 36+ real ales at £2.50 a pint, 3 sheets on the door gets you a program & entry to the handsome Civic Hall.
A small selection of bottled cider was available, as was wine which seemed to be a good call as lots of groups had a bottle on their table, pies & curry were also on offer, as were pink festival tees. But what about the beer I hear you bark.
If you’re after a pint of Stalybridge’s finest, TicketyBrew, then you’ll be left thirsty, but what was on offer was (for a festival) in good condition overall. Only one got flushed & I remember enjoying Mauldon’s Blackberry Porter, Offbeat Dysfunctional IPA, Ran Rum & Raison Stout, Salopian Oracle & Millstone Tiger Rut in particular.
A very inclusive festival this, even swingers were catered for thanks to Dominic Halpin & The HoneyB’s.
Beer was quaffed & people got jolly.
Everybody seemed to be having lot’s of fun, it’s a shame that more of our great local breweries weren’t given space on the racks though, maybe I’ll try & sneak a bottle stall on next year…….
